The Pet Lady strives to provide peace of mind for pet parents by caring for our client’s pets as if they were our own. We do this through our reliable, caring, patient and professional team of pet care providers. We built The Pet Lady with the intention of equipping our staff with the skills necessary to provide top-notch care for pets in our communities - from assessing the needs of individual pets and pet parents, being reliable - knowing when to be there, what tasks need completing and how long we are with pets, and ultimately being customer service focused for both our human and furry clients. As we continue to grow, we look to bring on individuals who can thrive in their skill sets and bring value to our community of pet parents and pets. The Pet Lady seeks to grow with self-motivated individuals who truly care for the well-being of pets.
As a Dog Walker/Pet Sitter, you will report directly to the office manager in your daily dog walking and pet sitting duties. In addition, you will be responsible for feeding, socializing with and caring for pets of all sizes and breeds. An ideal candidate will be motivated by the well-being of the pets in our care and have excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills. This is a part time/supplemental income position.
Job Responsibilities:
Caring for client’s pets and homes
Walking dogs or providing yard time for pets
Cleaning litter boxes or enclosures and surrounding areas for cats and small animals
Keeping client’s home clean of all garbage and messes from us and their pets
Bringing in packages for our clients when we visit
Putting out and pulling in garbage and recycling cans for clients who are on vacation
In addition to walking dogs, caring for other pets and client homes, team members are responsible for other services that The Pet Lady has agreed to provide during visits.
Driving before, during and after visits
Accessing clients’ homes through various methods
Providing food and water to pets
Administering medication to pets
Disposing of animal waste properly
Monitoring health and safety of pets.
Skills and Functions that are necessary for this job
Ability to control dogs of varying sizes and breeds
Ability to track time, mileage and manage visits and scheduling conflicts
Ability to communicate with clients, management and trainers, including initial consultations and receiving client feedback
Ability to maintain complete and accurate records relating to services provided, including records of time spent at each visit and mileage between visits
Job Requirements:
Must live in Naperville, Elmhurst, Villa Park, Lombard or adjacent communities
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have consistent access to a reliable vehicle
Must be available to work between 9am to 3pm, minimum 3 days per week (Monday-Friday)
Must have access to a reliable smart phone and have knowledge of how to use apps on their phone effectively
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Key element of this role is to have physical stamina and the ability to control multiple dogs during walks with intermittent hazards such as vehicle and pedestrian traffic
You will spend a significant amount of time outside for your job and you may be asked to walk dogs in inclement weather (cold, rain, snow, etc.)
While performing duties of this job, you are regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel and crouch
You may need to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
In an emergency situation you will be required to transport a pet in your personal vehicle to the veterinarian
